Porsche Offers Supreme Long-Term Quality

Stuttgart. The sports cars built by Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, offer truly outstanding long-term quality now confirmed once again by the latest Autobild TÜV Report in Germany. Providing a detailed list of the most frequent defects on some eight million cars examined and tested in 2008 by TÜV approval authorities in the general motoring tests prescribed by law, this list is truly complete and meaningful. According to the Autobild TÜV Report both the Porsche 911 and the Porsche Boxster model series show the smallest number of defects in all age categories between four and eleven years of ownership, ranking first and second in both cases - only in a different order. A particularly impressive point is that while in general the average defect rate increases dramatically from one year to the next to a double-digit percentage, it consistently remains at a stable and low level on all Porsche sports cars.
Through this truly impressive result, Porsche once again proves its leading role in terms of long-term quality. Last year the sports cars from Zuffenhausen already showed their immunity to defects, the 911 ranking No 1 in two age categories in last year's TÜV Report and finishing second in two further categories. The Boxster, in turn, finished first, third, and fourth. 
These results are the consequence of Porsche's product and development philosophy, with the focus on evolution instead of revolution. Carefully planned and accurately secured development processes ensure significant progress in technology while avoiding all risks at the expense of the customer. Hence, Porsche's sports cars offer not only superior driving pleasure, but also reliability and lasting value over a very long running life. Indeed, particularly the Porsche 911 enjoys great demand among connoisseurs and car lovers throughout all model generations. And last but not least, the statistics of the German Technical Inspection Authority also confirm the high level of service quality offered by Porsche workshops.

Porsche sales in North America affected by model changeover

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, delivered 1,558 automobiles to customers in North America in September this year; of these, 1,458 went to the USA and 100 to Canada. This represents a decrease of 44 percent compared to the previous year, mainly caused by the model changeover that took place for the 911 Carrera and Targa models. Sales of the new generation of the 911, with direct gasoline injection giving reduced fuel consumption, went ahead as planned on September 20. Against this background, the number of 911s sold in September was down by 50 percent compared to the same time last year, at 530 unit sales. However, Porsche expects that as well as the new Carrera, the four-wheel-drive versions of the 911 Carrera and Targa, which will be rolling onto the North American market on October 25, will give sales a fresh boost. A total of 819 vehicles from the Cayenne series were delivered in September, 21 percent fewer than in the same month last year. In addition customers took delivery of 209 vehicles from the Boxster series, representing a decrease of 71 percent. Of these, 78 units were accounted for by the Cayman and the Cayman S. Despite the financial crisis, which became dramatically more acute in September, and the resulting lack of confidence among customers, Porsche will be sticking to its established sales policy of not giving discounts. Due to its variable production system, the enterprise is in a position to adapt its production numbers flexibly, if there should be a sustained economic shift.

More performance, less fuel consumption - under ten litres per 100 kilometers for the first time ever
The new Porsche 911 goes on sale in Germany
July 2008

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, will launch the next generation of the 911 range in the salesrooms of the 85 German Porsche centers next Saturday, July 5, 2008. The car was first presented to more than 800 journalists from around the world a month ago at the Development Center in Weissach and at the Schloss Monrepos near Ludwigsburg, where particularly its new transmission technology drew excellent reviews. Bernhard Maier, Managing Director of Porsche Deutschland GmbH, places correspondingly high expectations on the new models: "Our engineers have once again done a fantastic job with the current generation 911: more performance, more sporty, but significantly less fuel consumption and CO2 emissions - that's what our customers expect from Porsche. I am con-vinced that the new models will give a significant boost to our sales in the second half of the year." The newly developed 3.6 and 3.8 litre flat six cylinder engines provide a very dynamic drive for the two coupés and cabriolets with classic rear wheel drive. The use of direct fuel injection for the first time ever and the Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), available as an option, make the 911 even sportier than ever. At the same time, these technologies give a lasting improvement to the already exemplary efficiency of the 911 models. This means that the Carrera Coupé with PDK and 345 bhp (254 kW) achieves fuel consumption of 9.8 litres per 100 kilometers, while the CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 15 percent. The 911 Carrera S Coupé now produces 385 bhp (283 kW) from its new 3.8 litre engine with a maximum speed of just under 300 km/h. The prices for these 911 models start in Germany at €83,032 for the Carrera. The Carrera Cabriolet and Carrera S both cost €93,980 and the price of the Carrera S Cabriolet is €104,928 (all prices include VAT at 19 percent).
